Suburbya is here to get your home affairs in order
Our service lets a customer book a cleaner (with plumbing, handyman and gardening to come) with a few clicks through a web application (an app is currently being developed). It operates as a marketplace for home services, connecting homes with local service providers which allows you to schedule, pay and rate in seamless steps taking away points of friction currently experienced by customers. Current alternatives for customers are predominantly a variety of trade directories which offer multiple quotes or through word of mouth. Suburbya currently operates in Melbourne with plans to expand into Sydney and Brisbane in the not too distant future.
Gone are the days when customers are satisfied with trolling through a multitude of directories.
This new service is completely free to use for homes. Gone are the days when customers are satisfied with trolling through a multitude of directories or agencies, making call after to call until someone picks up the phone and only to be told: ‘I’ll be there sometime between 12pm and 6pm next Tuesday’. Customers expect more information and interaction in this digital age and above all else, convenience. Household users will have the ability to select the type of service (e.g. cleaning), set a date and make payment through easy to follow steps. The platform also allows customers to clear up any finer points about the job and make a user rating at the end. Set prices have been established per hour so that both the customer and the professional know exactly what the cost is at the end of the job. No more surprises (customer) or worrying about being underpaid (professional).
All cleaning professionals listed on the platform have gone through a thorough screening process and we ensure standard processes and expectations for our services. Professionals are only charged a small percentage of the service fee when a job is completed through Suburbya. It essentially creates better leads and outcomes for the service provider and a better customer experience for homes.
Early users love the new concept; customers love the fact that they are in charge of the entire process and professionals appreciate the fact that they can work around their schedule. The platform is easy to use and a booking can be made in just 60 seconds. A cleaner booked on Suburbya costs $29 an hour. An app for customers is planned but won’t be available in the short term. Melbourne being a technology savvy city with a great deal of early adopters and with a plethora of cleaning professionals available, the service could prove to be popular with busy professionals or those that simply don’t like to do house work!
As co founders, Shammika Munugoda and I have an interesting history having met through volunteering at an Australian charity group. Both have worked in professional services (Banking, Auditing and IT) and also built and executed previous business ventures individually. Before embarking on the startup, we openly talked about how the online classified industry is changing rapidly yet there were far too many points of friction for customers to actually get something done around the house. After following the collaborative consumption and on demand service space closely, we both decided to come together and build a unique Australian platform to ease the burden on busy homes in suburbia.
Our innovative new business model is here to reinvent an old, staid household services industry which is crying out for more efficiencies and better customer experience in line with the digital age. If you are one of those people that regularly look for a cleaner to get your messy home in order, check out www.Suburbya.com.au today and do the things you love with your free time.
